As was first reported on a number of internet sources last week, former number 1 contender in the UFC middleweight division David The Crow Loiseau (18-8, 3-2 UFC) has agreed to a new contract with the organization. Loiseau, who has not fought in the UFC since a decision loss to Mike Swick in 2006, is expected to make his return to the UFC when the organization returns to Montreal in April, 2009 against former TUF participant Ed Herman. Since his release from the UFC Loiseau has gone 4-2 in a number of organizations with victories over Freddy Espiricueta, Todd Gouwenberg, Andrew Buckland and recently captured the XMMA middleweight title with a TKO victory over Soloman Hutcherson.

In a night that saw 2 new champions crowned in the UFC, the promotion handed down the usual fight bonuses with $60,000 as the reward.

The Fight of the Night went to new 205lb champion Rashad Evans and now former title holder, Forrest Griffin for their war on Saturday night. After an early advantage for Griffin in the first two rounds, it was Evans who earned the win with a TKO stoppage on the ground in the third.

The Knockout of the Night went to former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton Rampage Jackson who exacted a measure of revenge against old foe Wanderlei Silva when he landed a thunderous shot that put the Brazilian down and out on the canvas.

No fights on the 10 bout card ended in submission, and thus the UFC handed out no Submission of the Night bonus.

14,103 fans crowded into the MGM Grand Garden Arena to see the last UFC show of the year capped off with the two title fights crowing new champions in the light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions.

Jonathan The Road Warrior Goulet suffered a devastating loss to Mike Quick Swick at UFC Fight For the Troops at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The welterweight fight was co-featured fight on the card and Swick scored a 33-second TKO on Goulet.

Swick (13-2) and Goulet (22-10, 1 NC) quickly circled each other at the start of the contest. They soon squared off and Swick was able to hurt and drop Goulet using a short right hand. After he went down to the canvas Goulet grabbed Swick by the leg.

As Goulet was trying to regain his bearings, Swick unloaded an onslaught of hammer fists to the face. Referee Dan Miragliotta then jumped in to stop the fight. Following the fight, Goulet was visibly upset with the way the fight went.

I am really not satisfied with the result of my last fight, Goulet told his fan club members. I have been sad, yes, but mainly mad. My MMA career is unfortunately a rollercoaster, as I often have ups and downs. Its sad, but not the end of the world.

The UFC Fight For the Troops was held specifically for U.S. military personnel, with only troops in attendance. And throughout the broadcast there were public service announcements to donate to charities that help veterans and wounded soldiers.

At Fort Bragg, Ive seen people who had lost arms and legs for their country, Goulet said. They would have given all they had to only get half what I have. There are people who lost their relatives in a tsunami, a hurricane or earthquake.

So for those who think Im gonna stop after a loss, they are dead wrong, Goulet continued. Ill rise again and come back stronger. Ive said that my life is like a book. For me, failing doesnt mean the end of my book, but only a chapter.

So its simple, recently Ive begun a new chapter, Goulet said. My thirst for victory is still there, I love life and I want to live it to the fullest.

The December 10th fight was broadcast live on SpikeTV. Goulet is sponsored by Kahnawakes MMA Fight Shop.
